Dad, Bill, Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones (and great food)

Just before Thanksgiving, Bill and Dad went to Buenos Aires, Argentina
View Larger Map. 4 days later, I joined them. You can see all our photos on Flickr.

Highlights of the trip... the food, seeing Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones 5 feet away at a polo match, food, seeing family, polo (and polo players), the 3:1 exchange rate (in our favor), lots of inexpensive leather, food, a huge antique fair in historic Buenos Aires, amazing (inexpensive--see 3:1 exchange rate) wine, traveling with a local historian (notice all the pictures of my dad pointing things out to Bill), gourmet gelato delivered to your door, seeing Evita's grave (this is a bit morbid), and sleeping through the entire 10.5 leg from Dallas to Buenos Aires (1 Ambien, highly recommended; 2...not such a good idea).

The only down-side of the trip was not having turkey on Thanksgiving Day. Instead, my aunt prepared a wonderful seafood meal. Argentina is blessed with two of the world's finest cuisines: Spanish and Italian. Incidentally, these are the two largest ethnicities in Buenos Aires as well. My family, on both sides, is from Spain.

Bill picked up a bit of Spanish, thanks to constant prodding from me and my cousins--he learned to request fizzy water at restaurants (oooh, aaah). We tried to keep him quiet as much as possible in public, but Dawg's can be kind of chatty.

Anyway, we returned from our long journey home with a duffel bag filled with the last of my grandmother's crystal--that was fun. Everything and everyone arrived in one piece....thankfully.

Sounds like a wonderful time! I'm looking forward to the pics. I tried the link, but apparently Flickr is "having a massage". Um...I'll check back in a bit. :)
